Thank You + HSII Photos!Monday March 23rd, 2009 at 12:16pm
We would like to thank everybody who attended How Sweet It Is on Saturday! We had a blast putting the event together and we hope you had even more fun this past weekend at the show.
In the meantime, we've posted photos from How Sweet It Is in the galleries for everyone to check out. There were tons of cameras at the event on Saturday, so if you have photos let us know and we'll link to them from here!
To address the capacity issues, the fire marshals closed the doors to the Citrus building because they felt there was a safety issue. During an event, if the fire marshal determines there are too many people in any of the buildings, it is their decision to close the doors and refuse to allow more people to enter. We apologize to anyone who came and could not get into the Citrus building to see their favorite DJ, we are as unhappy about it as you are. However, when the fire marshal decides to control entry to a room, we have to comply.
The main concern was not that there were too many people at the event, but that people were choosing to sit on the floors of the dance areas instead of dancing. People sitting on the floor took up the same space that three or four standing dancers could have enjoyed. Not only does sitting kill the vibe and fragment the dance floor, it keeps others from getting to hear their favorite artists.
We are increasingly frustrated by this trend of people taking up dance floor space by sitting down and we've already taken some steps to address this problem. We placed prominent messages on the event guides distributed at How Sweet It Is discouraging people from sitting on the dance floors and even went so far as to have security circulate in the crowd and make people who were sitting down get up and move. We are now coming up with new ways to reverse this trend and will be trying some different approaches at future events.
Thanks again to everyone who came to How Sweet It Is - we'll see you next time!
